London Tech Week is About To Kick Off
London Tech Week 2018 brings together some of the biggest names from the global technology and business community — there are a huge range of cool events hosted across the city from 11th to 17th June.
Throughout next week, the festival showcases cutting-edge transformational technologies and innovations — think robotics, Artificial Intelligence and autonomous vehicles, as well as blockchain, augmented reality and 5G.
The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan will formally open the festival on 11th June, and from then, London formally opens its doors to the international tech community, welcoming over 50,000 delegates from all over the world.
More than 300 events will be held at venues across London, with major shows taking place at the ExCeL centre, City Hall and the News Building (we’re also hosting our own event here at Makers on Thursday June 14th).
There are a number of panel discussions and keynote speeches, spotlighting big name entrepreneurs like WPP founder Sir Martin Sorrell, Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales and Doteveryone founder Martha Lane Fox.
The prices of tickets vary a fair amount. Bookings for events like the LeadersIn Tech Summit and the gala dinner cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds (a golden ticket granting access to five of the festival’s biggest showcases and socials costs £2,450!).
For those who don’t fancy a golden ticket, there are plenty of free shows on offer, including the headline TechXLR8 exhibition and keynote speeches from sporting legends Sebastian Coe and Sir Clive Woodward.
Some of the events we’re looking forward to:
